I was writing my Bravos review for the set but I’m going to wait a bit before I release that. Instead I’m going to go through a brew that I’m excited about that share one particular card from Trial by Frost that I think will have the largest impact ….. Arcolano Milk!
Booda’s Milky Boots
This brew utilises all the Bravos cards that make tokens to make as many creatures as possible in the expedition that has Arcolano Milk in it. This is a speed deck, hoping to win the game quickly. Unlike Haven, Arcolona milk will give its boosts to anything that joins the expedition. So, any tokens created in the expedition will also get the boost. The wording ‘when a character joins my expedition’ says to me that the tokens get the boosts and fleeting. So, our first priority is to have 3 copies of the rare Milk in our deck. If we can play Milk on the Companion side the turn before a Booda, then our good buddy the firecat comes in as a 4/4/4.
Arcolano Milk [R] x 3
Now do we care if the tokens have fleeting … nope. However, it would be good for our token makers not to get that fleeting, so let’s include common some ways that they can escape that fleetingness.
Helping Hand [C] x 2
Technical Boots [C] x 2
Bravos Vanguard [C] x 3
Our token makers kind of speak for themselves as currently we only have 2 of them. The spy will also act as our deck’s sabotage.
Foundry Armorer [R] x 3
Ordis Spy [R] x 3
I’d also like a couple of cheap ways to make use of those boosts that the Milk is giving us without it mattering. If we get rid of fleeting, then Red can use those boosts again for us and Hua Mulan can keep going forever from reserve until she gets sabotaged. The Fire Rabbit and the Tracer don’t care about getting fleeting and the Rabbit can give the boost to another character in the non-Milk expedition.
Red [C] x 3
Fire Rabbit [C] x 3
Hua Mulan [R] x 3
Bravos Tracer [C] x 2, Bravos Tracer [R] x 1
Next, we really need some card draw. For that we have the nice new common, Haven Seiringer which actually prefers to be fleeting to give us his card.
Haven Seiringer [C] x 3
If we want to add in some ‘fun’ into the deck a couple of copies of Icebound Peak may be great. We are after all playing a ton of things that can get fleeting, and our horde of small characters and tokens will love the buff and our Dragon Spirit could come in as an 8/8/8.
Icebound Peak [R] x 2
Finally, we need some removal. For this we are going to give up on any permanent removal for some temporary solutions.
Intimidation [C] x 3
Then add in your best Unique cards and test. For this deck I recommend any unique that makes multiple tokens. Now it doesn’t have to be the broken Foundry Armorer, but any Armorer that can make more than one token will work just fine. A couple of examples are below, with the second one potentially leaving 8/8/8 worth of stats behind for next turn.
A second class that could really work with this are some of the Unique Reds with good abilities. Red already can potentially reuse those boosts (as can Bravos Pathfinder and Bravos Pathfinder Unique cards), but many Reds need 2 or 3 boosts to get that added ability. Here we would prefer to use the 2 boost ones since that is what Milk will give it for free. Indeed, anything that says when I have 2 boosts, do something stupidly good is worth considering since Milk will always give them 2 boosts. An example is below giving us a Sabotage for free assuming that you can remove the fleeting (either with Technical Boots, Helping Hand or Vanguard).
The final class of rares I’d suggest is low-cost Unique cards that can draw cards. The deck with all its fleetingness will run out of cards if it doesn’t have some draw and we are not utilizing the rare. An example of some draw is on the Kappa below, with the Milk boosts giving us that extra card or two.
I hope this gives people ideas for a new Bravos Brew going forwards! There are a few more options that we can try including having a couple of Akhlut for some early anti Treyst control, however at this stage I prefer to try a lower to the ground version.
